The IJsmannetjes supply ice cream to 26 student accommodation locations in Wageningen.
Idealis is the main landlord of rooms and flats for students in Wageningen. They have 27 locations in Wageningen and Ede with a total of around 6,000 student rooms.
To celebrate the start of the new academic year, they wanted to treat all their tenants to an ice cream. And they asked the IJsmannetjes to come up with a proposal for this.
The question:
- There were 26 locations (1 location was being renovated), ranging in size from 13 to 960 rooms.
- It had to be done within 1 week.
- It was difficult to estimate how many students would be at home.
- They wanted to brand the ice cream carts with Idealis branding.
Our proposal
- Since we assumed that students would often not be at home in the mornings, we suggested serving ice cream every day between 12:00 and 20:00.
- Based on our experience, we made a proposal for the duration of ice cream serving at each location
- With one ice cream van and two ice cream men we should be able to serve all locations in three days
- Idealis would email all students about the time when an ice cream bicycle would be at their doorstep
The result
- We were actually able to follow the schedule pretty much perfectly.
- We couldn't visit one location due to heavy rainfall. We were able to visit it a week later after all.
- Idealis' communication with the students proved to work well.
- Our ice cream men found it very interesting to experience the diversity of the population at the different locations.
