Serving ice cream in a hospital is always something special for us. These are usually not very complicated projects with complex logistics, but it's still a unique experience to be in a hospital and have nurses, housekeeping staff, and doctors lining up at your ice cream cart. The most special of all are always the operating room staff in their blue scrubs.

Network specialist Conscia had completed a large project at the Maxima Medical Centre. To thank the staff for their cooperation and patience, they came up with the idea of treating them to ice cream — right up our alley.

We spent two afternoons scooping ice cream from one of our ice cream bikes in the staff restaurants of the Eindhoven and Veldhoven locations. In Eindhoven, there are mostly outpatient clinics and scheduled care. Not that many people work there, but the atmosphere around the cart was lively and pleasant.

Veldhoven, however, is much larger. We had a line at the cart for three straight hours. A unique challenge in Veldhoven was that the restaurant was on the first floor, so the ice cream cart had to go in the elevator. Fortunately, our Gazelle bike — which is slightly shorter than the other ice cream bikes — fit perfectly.
